Body conditioning is a crucial aspect of any authentic martial art. The basic principles are embodied by Uechi Ryu karate which develops body armour through repetitive striking to various respective body parts such as the shins, thighs, ribs, lats, knuckles, toes, forearms, and throat. The above video shows Sensei Shinjo striking his son in sanchin and then demonstrating his own amazing degree of physical conditioning. Through breaking down the body’s tissue in absorbing strikes, the body reinforces itself by developing greater protection through the restructuring of muscle and bone.
Once the body is well conditioned, kicking is not performed with the ball or top of the foot like many styles, but is instead devastatingly preformed with the toe or the shin. These normally senesitive areas become highly refined weapons of force.
The Stance
The Taekwondo stance is one of the weakest in martial arts. The theory behind the long sideways stance is based on the rules of the sport. In sport competitions, striking to the legs and back are prohibited and points are preferentially given to kicks. The purpose of the long stance is to provide a stable and maneuverable platform from which to kick.
Like an ostrich hiding its head in the sand, Taekwondo ignores the reality of martial combat in light of its own rules. The Taekwondo stance is ineffective and even dangerous to those who employ it. The sideways body posture exposes the back and the kidneys while the legs are so spread apart that they are defenseless against Thai kickboxing style leg kicks. (All demonstrated in the above video)
The Spin and the Jump
The Taekwondo style spin and jump are very dangerous. These two moves expose oneself to a quick and effective counter attack their back is turned or when they are in the air as they are completely defenseless. The best counterattack to these techniques is to rush your opponent as just a slight push while in such a vulnerable position will send them toppling.
High Kicks
The consistent high kicks practiced in Taekwondo exposes both the groin to striking and the legs to being grabbed or caught. High kicks can be useful, but only in unsuspecting surprise attacks.
Overall Taekwondo Counter Attack Strategy
The strategy from the Taekwondo perspective is to remain at a distance from their opponent in order to launch dynamic kicks. The counter attack strategy is to close this distance. Once within the kicking radius, the entire Taekwondo style is basically defenseless as rarely do they practice effective sparring hand techniques.

The Importance Of Human Mortality
Filed Under Relish Random | Leave a Comment
One of the most common elements of varying religions is the constant reiteration of human mortality. Modern society, on the other hand, has enabled humans to become so task oriented that personal reflections of mortality are suppressed and go unnoticed. How do your reflections on your own mortality affect you? 1. Reduce Stress – Everything comes into a universal perspective eliminating your menial concerns 2. Cultivate Motivation – Recognizing your inevitable demise will spur you to live the life you really want to. It reinforces action, not apathy. 3. Cultivate Empathy – Gone is your ability to be cold and “business-like”. Instead with mortality comes a deeper sense of the human condition that connects you to everyone in true sincerity. Regardless of the material benefits, just a moment of reflection a day will keep you grounded in the only undeniable truth: You are mortal You will die Know it

Automatic Roomate Dishwashing System

Automatic Dishwashing System
If you have roommates then you are bound to have the problem of dishes. No responsibility is taken, and the dishes continually pile up until a Good Samaritan bucks up and does them.
Here is an effective system for continual roommate dishwashing:
1. Create a List of the roommate names
2. Create a marker
3. Whoever’s name the marker is on must put away one dish rack of dishes and wash a sink load to replace it
4. The marker is then moved to the next name
5. You cannot do your turn of dishes until the marker gets to you name
The beauty of this system is that:
A. You never have to do your own dishes, so you can cook without the necessary clean up time.
B. The dish system is anonymous, nobody must be confronted
C. There is built in pressure on the current dish washer to do their turn as the next person is anxious to get their turn over with.
D. You’ll find that to fulfill your turn only takes 20 minutes
Any extra insights or other roommate dishwashing systems?
Where To Look In A Fight

Where To Look In A Fight
The typical assumptions of where to look in a fight (whether UFC, kickboxing, street, or karate) are:
1. The top of the head
2. The eyes,
3. The chest,
4. The waist.
One of the most important places not to look is the eyes as someone can and will use their eyes as a feint to distract you. The waist is too low to retain peripheral vision of your opponent’s hands.
The best advice for focusing your vision during a fight or martial art competition is at your opponent’s chest. This retains your opponent’s full body in the field of vision while ignoring the deceitful eyes. Your eyes should be fixed on the upper part of the chest while always monitoring lower leg attacks.
An interesting argument of the Russian martial art “Systema” is to focus your attention above your opponents head. This is used primarily for multiply attackers as it sacrifices the perception of low leg attacks but enables a wider field of vision which can be used against a greater number of attacks.
1. If you are fighting a single attacker, focus your vision on their upper chest
2. If you are combating multiple attackers, raise your point of visual focus to their forehead or above their head to increase your field of periphery vision.
1. Raise leg
2. Twist slightly towards the outside
3. Flex foot
4. Have point of elbow outside of knee
5. Lean into the attack
6. Quickly counter attack
1. As the Muay Thai Kickboxing style kick is thrown attacking your thigh, raise your leg on the same side so that your shin takes the blow instead of your thigh
2. As you raise your leg twist your foot slightly (15 degrees) to the outside to ensure that it is your shin bone that receives the blow not the surrounding muscles.
3. Counter intuitively, flex your foot into a perpendicular position with your leg (do not point your toes down.) While it might seem logical to protect your toes by pointing them down, your toes are far enough away from the target that they are not concern in comparison to your vulnerable calf muscle. By flexing your foot you tighten your calf muscle preventing a damaging blow in the case of your attackers shin striking your calf.
4. Raise your knee while slightly lowering your elbow so that your knee and elbow touch (elbow on the outside to brace your arm). This creates a reinforced wall of protection.
5. Lean into the kick which will prevent your leg from collapsing inward and absorbing a greater duration of energy.
6. The moment when your opponent is regaining his balance from a kick is a vulnerable time which should be capitalized by a quickly executed counter attack.

The Enlightened Student - Imrove Studying and Become Successful
Filed Under Relish Random | 10 Comments

To be enlightened is to have ultimate wisdom, and to be a student is to pursue the acquisition of knowledge. An example of the enlightened student is the classmate with intuitive knowledge of how to succeed with neither great effort nor concern of success. How is this possible? It is achievable through the following special psycho-spiritual outlook.
1. Study Something You ENJOY
You have a higher probability of passive success by studying something you sincerely enjoy, regardless of your career ambitions. I have seen countless students who attempted to get into a professional program through studying science based subjects which they loathed. The purpose of undergraduate education is to gather a well rounded knowledge base applicable throughout your life in any interest you pursue. Worldly knowledge has always been the basis of higher education traceable right through to antiquity. In studying your subject of enjoyment, you will naturally become passionate and passively ambitious. Cultivation of these characteristics will translate into the successful achievements necessary for a prosperous life. If we use my experience as an example, I new that I wanted to ultimately pursue medicine, but for my undergraduate I studied my sincere interest; philosophy. The study of philosophy captivated me to such an extent that I instinctively and effortlessly produced outstanding essays which professors loved. Once the professors recognize your interest and sincerity, they will naturally assign higher grades which will provide you with the higher grade point average necessary for any further levels of graduate programs or employment. All of your outstanding accomplishments will be achieved both passively and with relatively little personal effort.
2. Pursue the subject matter, not the grade
If you chase the grade you will always be doing just that, chasing the grade. If you master the subject matter of your field of study, the high grades will come naturally. As an example, we have all experienced a person who is merely doing an action to fulfill that outcome of that action, whether this is your banker or your grocery clerk, the lack of sincerity is instantly recognized in distaste by the customer. The trick to life which this example is demonstrating is to purposefully arrange your tasks of pursuit to be primarily those in which you feel passion. This holds true for both your professional life as well as your extracurricular interests. Once this is accomplished you will soon see your natural affinity translated into efficient productivity which will enable effortless fulfillment of your ambitions.
3. Maintain a carefree and relaxed mindset
There is an ancient Chinese proverb of a man who is making a play at marbles with the knowledge of its impending great wager. The proverb follows the knowledge of his wager instills a subconscious sense of nervousness which creates a higher probability of error compared to the play of an oblivious player. The moral of the proverb is that perceived seriousness of a task can actually impede the accomplishment of that task. It does not follow, however, that focus should not be cultivated as each player was equally focused, except one player was mentally clouded by the knowledge of the wager while the other player’s conscious was focused but clear. If you always maintain a mindset which diminishes the gravity of your tasks, then your actions will be un-errored by nervousness or tension. The proof is in the pudding as both ancient and modern Chinese sages live notoriously long and prosperous lives which researchers have attributed to their stress free psyco-spirtual outlook and their effortlessly productive lifestyle.
