Exercise Without Fear Of Acne
It was always taught that too much of exercise only aggravates acne because of the sweat. By exercising and taking part in strenuous activities, your skin condition is aggravated, and this was thought to spark an acne attack.
However this myth was proven wrong by a study conducted by the Stanford University School of Medicine some time back.
With their research, the researchers proved that the changes in acne did not seem to correlate with the exercise days; the time the people spent exercising, the time the people sweated during exercise or the time gap between exercise and showering.
Researchers thus proved that it is okay for people suffering from acne problems to exercise, so long as they showered within the hour. The myth of exercising causing acne was triggered by a study involving football players.
As these football players suffered from acne attacks, it was thought that it was the football they played that triggered acne.
However in reality, it was the areas where the helmet and uniform padding rubbed the body of the athletes that acne attacks started.
This type of acne they suffered from is called ‘acne mechanica’, which is acne that is started after exhausting activity.
This thus proved that it was not the football game that triggered acne, but the friction that developed between the football players’ skin and their equipment that brought about the acne attack.
So with this cleared, as long as you wear comfortable clothing while exercising, there is no worry of acne getting triggered with exercise.
