Most people who suffer from acne run from pillar to post seeking any and every medicine possible to get rid of those dirty red spots. My mother swore by her home remedy; mint paste combined with a little yogurt and it did seem to work for me.

As I grew up I decided to investigate a few other home remedies and their effectiveness against acne. Here’s what I found,

Fresh turmeric root ground with a little yogurt was wonderful. Caused a whole lot of horrible stains but gave my face such a wonderful sunny glow. A word to the wise: don’t use the powdered turmeric, you could end up looking like last nights chicken curry.
Buttermilk and oats used as a scrub was so great. The oats smelled really great even though it tastes really bland. The buttermilk soothed my dry skin and the tiny oat particles acted like a scrub. Really fresh looking skin for about two days.
Don’t use soap. Use a mixture of chickpea flour for daily scrubbing of your face. Again this was really yucky but the end effect was worth it, smooth glowy skin. Check for allergies before using chickpea flour as soap.
Water! Water! Water! Drinking a lot of water can flush out your system and clear the toxins, which have accumulated in you body. Eight glasses or two liters is the minimum for a glowing complexion.
Cucumber juice-puree a few cucumbers and squeeze out the juice, you can make few ice cubes of this liquid and freeze it in the fridge. Whenever you have time rub the ice cubes all over you face for a fresh feeling.
