The human body undergoes many changes in its hormonal levels over the passage of time. With these hormonal changes, the body too undergoes lots of changes. One such hormone that brings about major change in the human body is androgen.
These hormones are responsible for stimulating the sebaceous glands and hair follicles that are found in the skin. And it is these changes that usually cause hormonal acne in a person.
In women, it is usually around menstruation time that these sebaceous glands get stimulated to produce flare ups. Research has proven that the human oil duct openings generally remain small during the 15th to 20th days of the 28 day cycle.
It is only during the 21st to 26th days that its size increases and then decreases on the 2 days prior to menstruation. So following this cycle, you find that premenstrual acne or cyclical acne is usually the worst on the 22nd day of the menstrual month.
When suffering from cyclical acne, you don’t always have to go to a doctor or get a prescription to treat it. Changes in your diet and some supplements are quite effective in bringing miracles to your premenstrual acne attack.
Washing your face does not prove effective in controlling cyclical acne as if this was all that was required, you could control your acne just by washing your face more frequently. Of course, wash your face as a habit but not as a means of curing your premenstrual breakouts.
