Smoking Also Induces Acne:
Smoking has always been known to induce numerous health problems like lung disease to cancer. However today it has been proven through research that there is another undesirable side effect of smoking cigarettes that affects mostly women, which is acne.
Researchers in Rome have found that smoking has a relation with causing acne in humans, especially in women. It has been proven that a particular type of acne, NIA non-inflammatory acne is most prevalent in smokers.
The characteristics of this type of acne are that it has blocked pores and large blackheads. However seldom does this acne grow as inflamed as normal acne.
Another similarity that was noticed in this research was that it was the smokers who had acne problems in their teens who were most likely to suffer from acne as an adult, than a non-smoker who had acne problems in their teen.
With research, it was found that smokers had half the levels of vitamin E secreted by the skin, when compared to non-smokers. This is considered to be one of the factors that tend to lead to the development of NIA acne.
In addition to this, the other factors that have been identified with the development of NIA acne are hormonal alterations in the body, occupational and environmental factors and of course, stress.
Even being exposed to intense smoke or steam for prolonged periods of time like in the kitchen can induce NIA acne.
