Overeating not only makes you gain weight, it also leads to the storage of fat and an increase in oil production in the body. This often leads to an increase in the production of insulin in the body, which makes hormones of the body produce more oil in the skin.
This in turn leads to an increase of bacteria levels in the skin. One such hormone is the high levels of testosterone in the body which stimulate the enlargement of sebaceous glands in the skin, which produces more oil, and blockage of pores.
The hormone androgen also affects the production of oil in the body. Androgen is present in both men and women; with men having more of the hormones. Androgens help expand the sebaceous gland of the skin to produce more oil in the body.
With this increased sebum, the pores get plugged pores and create a great medium for bacteria to develop in the body.
The process of blocked pores leading to acne is easy to understand. There are more of pilosebaceous pores found on the face, chest and upper neck; where you find more of acne.
These pores have a sebaceous gland that is connected to a canal having fine hair which produces oil called sebum. This sebum is eliminated to the surface of the skin through this canal.
The sebum that is found in this canal may get blocked because of a cap wherein the sebum does not reach the surface skin. This oil and cells induces the growth of bacteria Propionibacterium acne in the skin to develop blocked pore and induce inflammation and redness in the skin.
This makes some enzymes of the body melt the sebum to produce some irritating substances which in turn aggravates acne once again.
