Watch out for unusual acne!

Although any one who has suffered from the common acne or Acne vulgaris knows how it looks like, here are a few unusual type of acne which may occur in some patients causing severe distress,
· Acne Mechanica- is a type of acne which affects gym regulars. A type of acne which occurs under athletic gear or tight-fitting wear. This type of acne is common under tight fitting non-breathable synthetic gym clothes. Change your gym attire by using cotton or suitable moisture–wicking clothes to protect your skin. And please try not to share towels. If possible get disposable wash cloths to wipe your face.
· Backne or back acne- can start in many forms of blackheads, pustules, papules, or pimples and even cause big cysts.
· Acne Cosmetica- is a typical reaction seen in response to cosmetic use like compacts. Women with oily skin are more likely to use a compact to absorb the extra oil resulting in a faster clogging of the pores. This will result in a flare up of the acne called as Acne Cosmetica. This type of acne is commonly seen on the forehead and cheeks.
· Pomade Acne- some teenagers are prone to using hair gels, pomades, or mousses in their hair to give it a wet slicked–back look. Pomade is usually used once a hairstyle necessitates that curly hair be smoothed down or styled into various shapes. This type of acne can be found on the cheeks and foreheads and under the hair line in response to the gel, which are pore-clogging in nature.
These are just a few varieties of unusual acne I’ve found. I’ve even heard of psychological acne which comes under conditions of severe stress and if pinched leaves typical scars; although I’ve not found any research to back up the myth.
